LOT Polish Airlines and Turkish Airlines announce their 5th frequencies in Warsaw and Istanbul together with their extended commercial cooperation

LOT Polish Airlines and Turkish Airlines, currently offering four daily flights between their hubs – Warsaw and Istanbul Ataturk Airport, began to offer their 5th frequencies on the same route as of 29th of May, 2014. This additional frequency will provide passengers more flight alternatives between the two countries by enabling both carriers to utilize the total capacity with maximum benefit and as a result by meeting the rising demand in the market.

Turkish Airlines and LOT Polish Airlines currently have bilateral codeshare between their hubs, Warsaw-Istanbul v.v. operated by both carriers as four weekly flights.
The additional 5th frequency will also be included within the scope of codeshare agreement. Furthermore, the carriers will extend their codeshare cooperation by including their domestic and international sectors.

With this enhancement, Turkish Airlines will codeshare on LOT Polish Airlines five-times weekly Istanbul- Warsaw flights, as well as LOT Polish Airlines’ Brussels, Vienna flights and its domestic flight- Krakow. In addition to Turkish Airlines’ five-times weekly Istanbul- Warsaw flights, LOT Polish Airlines will codeshare on Turkish Airlines’ Cairo, Amman, New Delhi and Mumbai flights and its domestic flight- Ankara. The new codeshare routes will begin from 1st of July, 2014. This codeshare is also strengthened through additional bilateral agreements which provides access to each carriers’ network.

“We are glad to increase our frequencies in Warsaw and strengthen the commercial cooperation with our valuable partner LOT Polish Airlines. The enhanced cooperation between our airlines will offer further connection possibilities to our passengers. We hope to build up a bridge between our countries and develop it further by feeding each other’s network as two Star Alliance partners.” said Temel Kotil, Ph.D. President and CEO, Turkish Airlines.

“LOT Polish Airlines and Turkish Airlines are partners in Star Alliance. There have been many years of fruitful cooperation between us. Now, we would like to strengthen it.
This way, we also support the process of restructuring and stabilisation of the Company in the commercial aspects. The market demand for flights on Warsaw–Istanbul route is growing, so this is a natural decision made to the benefit of the passengers, as it translates into a better availability and equal choice of both carriers.” – says Sebastian Mikosz, CEO, LOT Polish Airlines.
