LOT’s Dreamliner will operate for Finnair again

Warsaw, June 18th, 2014 – LOT Polish Airlines increase efficiency in fleet optimization. Since July 1st till July 16th, 2014 one of the LOT’s Dreamliners will operate for Finnish airline Finnair. Aircraft leasing is a part of the Restructuring Plan, which LOT is consistently implementing.

LOT Polish Airlines’ Boeing 787 will operate the route between Helsinki and JFK airport in New York for two weeks as an implementation of the Finnair scheduled routes network. The cooperation will be based on the wet lease agreement – with LOT’s crew members and cabin attendants.

– One wide-body aircraft missing from our fleet affects our operations. Even in this situation, we want to serve our customers as well as possible. We are happy to offer a LOT’s Dreamliner to our customers in July – says Ville Iho, COO of Finnair.

– Regarding the ongoing restructuring process in the European Commission, when we are unable to open any new routes, we are constantly searching for new opportunities to optimize our long-distance fleet. Leasing one of our Dreamliners to Finnair is a part of the Restructuring Plan implementation, submitted to the Commission a year ago – says Ewa Kołowiecka, COO of LOT Polish Airlines. – We have a good experience in cooperation with Finnair. In December–January this year one of our aircraft has already operated on Finnair’s routes. We are glad that our Partner has once again appreciated the highest standards of our service and reliability of our airplanes – she adds.

Under previous agreement with Finnish airline, LOT’s Dreamliner also operated flights between Helsinki and New York. Finnair’s Airbus A330, which is regularly operating this route, will be undergoing an extra maintenance break.
