China Southern Launches New Direct Service to New York City

China Southern Airlines, the largest airline in The People’s Republic of China, is pleased to announce the start of direct service between Guangzhou and New York City.

A proud member of SkyTeam, China Southern Airlines’ new direct service marks the first flight from Southern China to America’s East Coast and operates each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving at JFK International Airport’s Terminal 4 at 5:15 am the same day.

“Today, on the occasion of the 35thAnniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and America, we take great pride in launching our direct service from Guangzhou to New York City, which is our second destination in the US and the third one in North America. It is fair to say that our development in the US marketplace is an epitome of China Southern’s steady integration into the international marketplace, part of a tireless endeavor to develop into a world-class airline,” said Si Xianmin, Chairman, China Southern Airlines.

The president & CEO of JFKIAT, the company which operates and manages Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport,Gert-Jan de Graaff said, “We are thrilled to add an airline with the global reach of China Southern Airlines to the Terminal 4 family. With over a million Chinese Americans living and working in New York City and approximately 650,000 Chinese tourists visiting our city per year, this new direct route from Guangzhou will strengthen the relationship between our two regions by increasing opportunities for tourism and communication. We look forward to a long and healthy partnership with China Southern as it makes its home here at Terminal 4.”

The route will be operated with a new­­-generation, four-class Boeing 777‐300ER aircraft offering a total of 309 seats‐four in First Class, 34 in Business Class, 44 in Premium Economy Class and 227 in Economy Class.
