LOT Cargo best in the Polish market thanks to the Dreamliners

Warsaw, August 11, 2014 – LOT Cargo strengthens its leading position in the Polish market for carriage of goods by air. Following the first six months of this year, a 17% increase has been recorded. This result is acknowledged by the research made by World ACD, the worldwide expert in collection and processing data from the air cargo markets.

In the first half of 2014, the Cargo and Mail Bureau at LOT Polish Airlines recorded a 17% increase in the volume of cargo transit from Poland, comparing to an equivalent period in the past year. The data comes from a report released by World ACD, a company that collects and processes transit data of most of the airlines in the world. Such results, in continually growing market for cargo transit by air, put LOT Cargo in the leading position in Poland. The success has been the result of so called “Dreamliner’s effect”, i.e. increasing cargo space in the Boeing 787 aircrafts operated by LOT. Majority of cargo transit on the board of LOT’s aircrafts is handled by Dreamliners.

“More than 80% of our cargo transit is handled by the Dreamliners. Six jets available at LOT during the summer season offer a total capacity of over 60 tons of goods that can be carried everyday. W use those possibilities on all routes, including the charter ones, but particularly on long-haul flights to the USA, Canada and China” – says Mariusz Kuczek, General Manager, Cargo and Mail Bureau at LOT Polish Airlines. “The market for cargo and mail carriage in Poland and Central Europe is steadily growing. With over 3 thousand tons of cargo carried on boards of LOT’s jets outside Poland we are in the leading position and can offer competitive advantage to our customers” – Mr Kuczek adds.

Thanks to the dynamic growth, the national carrier has already gone beyond 20% share in the Polish market for cargo transit.
