Transaero Airlines and Sheremetyevo airport temporarily suspend their cooperation during the reconstruction of the north area of the airport

Moscow, October 9, 2014 – Sheremetyevo International Airport and Transaero Airlines have reached a mutual agreement on a temporary suspension of the airline’s services from Sheremetyevo airport from the beginning of the 2014-2015 autumn-winter flight season while the airport’s northern area is being reconstructed.

This decision is in line with the carrier’s new development strategy, dedicated to “rational growth, efficiency and strategic focus”, as well as its cost reduction programme. According to the programme, Transaero will focus on operating tourist services with a high density of passenger traffic from Moscow airports with the widest network of flights across Russia and the CIS.

It will be possible to create such a route network at Sheremetyevo following the implementation of a large scale investment programme on the development of the northern area of the airport. The projects to develop a new Terminal B and a terminal-to-terminal tunnel are being carried out within the preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The airline and the airport plan to resume their cooperation in the future.

Transaero Airlines and Sheremetyevo airport express their sincere gratitude for the fruitful and mutually beneficial partnership over the past seven years, marked by a shared ambition of providing the highest level of customer service.

The business relationship between Transaero Airlines and Sheremetyevo will resume in the future and will be enriched on the basis of a new airport infrastructure that will benefit of passengers, clients and partners.

Transaero will continue to operate flights from Vnukovo and Domodedovo. In the 2014-2015 autumn-winter schedule Transaero will offer 59 routes from Vnukovo airport and 49 routes from Domodedovo airport.
