Fiji Airways Appoints David Bowden as Chief Financial Officer


Thursday, 13 November 2014: Fiji Airways, Fiji’s National Airline, has today announced the appointment of David Bowden as its Chief Financial Officer. Originally from the United Kingdom, Bowden is an experienced aviation & finance professional, with over 10 years of experience in airlines, holidays and leisure companies. Mr. Bowden has previously held senior finance positions at Air2000, First Choice Airways, Thomson Airways, AstraZeneca and was most recently Chief Financial Officer with bmi, a privately owned airline post the acquisition from IAG. Mr. Bowden is a qualified Chartered Accountant and also has a MSc in Computer Science.

As CFO at Fiji Airways, he will head up the airline’s Finance, Procurement and Information Technology functions based at its Head Office in Nadi, Fiji. He joins the airline’s Senior Management Team which includes the Managing Director and CEO, Chief Strategy Officer, and Executive General Managers for Sales & Marketing, Products & Services, Operations and Engineering.

Stefan Pichler, Fiji Airways’ Managing Director and CEO commented: “We’ve very pleased to have someone of David’s expertise and drive on board. He comes in to Fiji Airways at the right time as we finalise the acquisition of a fourth new A330 and finalise our budget for 2015. A key part of David’s role will be to mentor senior local managers in the Finance and IT teams and build internal airline finance capacity. All other Executive General Managers have the same task, to provide the mentorship necessary for their Fijian managers to progress within Fiji Airways”.

Bowden is also tasked immediately to finalise and implement Fiji Airways’ fuel and currency hedging plans.
