AirAsia X adding more options to Tokyo via Narita

SEPANG, 21 November 2014 – AirAsia X is expanding further into Japan with the launch of its inaugural flight to Narita from Kuala Lumpur. Narita is AirAsia X’s second airport in Tokyo after Haneda, which was launched on 9 Dec 2010. The inaugural flight of 4 weekly flights to the Narita International Airport took off at 12:45am today from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) with more than 80% load factor. The arrival of AirAsia X in Narita extends the airline’s reach into the North Asian market.

In conjunction with the celebration of the inaugural flight, AirAsia X is offering promotional fares to Narita from Kuala Lumpur from as low as MYR549* (JPY20,000*) on Economy and from just MYR1,599* (JPY65,000*) on its Business Class. The fares are available for online bookings from now to 30 November, 2014 for immediate travel between now and 9 June, 2015. For more details, log on to www.airasia.com.

Azran Osman-Rani, CEO of AirAsia X said, “Our service to Tokyo-Narita enhances our connectivity offering, complementing our existing daily services to Tokyo-Haneda that arrives at night, with this service via Narita airport that arrives into Tokyo in the morning. Given the unique nature of Tokyo’s airport constraints and the large size of the market, we are confident that this dual-airport operation will work. Many major Asian airlines operate from both Haneda and Narita airports, and the existing operations of our affiliate, Thai AirAsia X operating from Narita, gives us scale benefits.”

Makoto Natsume, CEO of Narita International Airport Corp. said, “We extend a heartfelt welcome to AirAsia X at Narita Airport. AirAsia X will be the only LCC at Narita Airport to operate on the Kuala Lumpur route. This will provide our customers at Narita with completely new options in terms of air fares and schedules, give them inexpensive access to the extensive AirAsia X network extending throughout the Asia region and to Australia, and make it possible for them to create travel plans that are more diverse and attractive than before.”

Narita, which is a city located in Chiba prefecture, attracts visitors from home and abroad for its cultural heritage and other tourist attractions. Guests can enjoy the famous Tokyo Disney Resort for family holiday, shopping spree at Shisui Premium Outlets, Katori Shingu Shrine and many more.
