Moscow, June 3, 2015 – Transaero Airlines has expanded its EASA certificate, granting the airline approval to perform C-check for Boeing 737Classic and Boeing 737NG aircraft.

Within the airline’s Technical Department, a special workshop has been set up at the airline’s MRO station at Vnukovo airport. On June 2, 2015, the first aircraft, Boeing 737-500, of Transaero Airlines arrived for C-check maintenance.

“The approval to perform independent C-check for Boeing 737 aircraft has become another step in developing the airline’s maintenance capabilities. Performing independent heavy maintenance on the airline’s own base will significantly reduce some airline’s expenditures in foreign currency within the business optimization and operation enhancement programme. The airline’s savings can reach about 15 million dollars a year,”- said Mikhail Korobovich, Deputy CEO, Head of Technical Department, Transaero Airlines. – “Moreover, despite the economic headwinds and the ongoing cost reduction programme, the company was able to retain the highly qualified personnel and expand its technical competences.”

We would like to remind that Transaero Airlines received its EASA certificate granting approval to provide the base aircraft maintenance at Vnukovo airport in September 2012. The station is located in the 12,800-square-meter hangar. This hangar includes two sections, which can accommodate up to six aircraft. The MRO Station employs 220 people.

In addition to C-check maintenance for Boeing 737Classic and Boeing 737NG at Vnukovo station, Transaero carries out all forms of A-check for Boeing 747-400, Boeing 767-200 / 300, Boeing 777-200 / 300 aircraft, as well as two-year maintenance for Boeing 777-200/300 aircraft. The light repairs of CFM-65 engines (Boeing 737 aircraft) by Top Case method are also carried out there. This allows to replace blades of engines with the most advanced method.

The development and enhancement of in-house MRO has always been one of the top priority tasks for Transaero Airlines. In 1996, Transaero was the first Russian airline to receive the certificate of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for independent maintenance of aircraft manufactured in the USA. Later on, the airline obtained the Certificate for independent maintenance of aircraft in accordance with the European JAR system. In 2012 Transaero Aviation Training Center received the EASA certificate which allows to provide training of engineering personnel to perform maintenance for Boeing aircraft in accordance with EU regulations, Russian and international standards.
