Malaysia Airlines Appoints CEO of Ground Handling Services Subsidiary

Subang, Monday, 22 June 2015: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) today officially announced the appointment of Mohd Nadziruddin Mohd Basri as Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines Berhad’s new subsidiary, MAB Ground Handling Services Sdn Bhd, effective 1 September 2015.

In announcing the appointment, MAS CEO, Christoph Mueller, said “On behalf of the management team, I am pleased to announce that Nadzir will lead MAB’s ground handling subsidiary. Nadzir brings with him over 20 years of experience in airline operations, investment and finance. In his new position, Nadzir will focus on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of ground handling services provided to our new airline’s passengers and aircraft, as well as to third party airlines.”

Nadzir has been in MAS since late 2013 where he held the position of Chief Financial Officer until being appointed to lead the Restructuring Management Office as Chief Restructuring Officer in late 2014. Earlier, Nadzir served at MAS for 6 years as General Manager, Project Management and Assurance (2001-2004) and Senior General Manager, Airport Operations (2005-2007).

Between 2007-2013, Nadzir was at Khazanah, holding various portfolios including as its Chief Financial Officer (2007-2010) and as Managing Director of Khazanah’s subsidiary, Destination Resorts and Hotels (2011-2013).

Nadzir holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Accounting & Finance from the London School of Economics, and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). He started his career in Arthur Andersen, later known as Ernst & Young.
