Malaysia Airlines Appoints New Chief Commercial Officer

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) today officially announced the appointment of Paul Simmons as Malaysia Airlines Berhad’s Chief Commercial Officer. Paul is expected to commence his new role by the 1st December 2015.

Announcing the appointment, MAS’ Chief Executive Officer Christoph Mueller said “On behalf of the management team, I am pleased to welcome Paul to Malaysia Airlines. Paul brings with him over 28 years of experience in sales and marketing, with his last 8 years focusing on the airlines industry. In his position he will focus on re-establishing our brand as a leading airline and developing services that will exceed our customers’ requirements and expectations.

Prior to his appointment Paul was the Chief Commercial Officer for Flybe, United Kingdom. He was formerly the Regional General Manager, UK (2009 – 2013) and Head of Brand Marketing, Products and Distribution (2006 – 2008) for Easy Jet.

Commenting on his appointment Paul said “I am delighted to be joining Malaysia Airlines as Chief Commercial Officer at such a pivotal point in the airline’s history. There is clearly a big challenge ahead, but the opportunity for the company is very clear, and equally exciting. I’m looking forward to working with the whole team to make the future vision a reality.”

Paul spent five years in the hotel industry. He was the EVP Sales and Marketing for Oberoi Group of Hotels in India (2004 – 2006) and VP of Global Intercontinental Brand for Intercontinental Hotel Group in UK. (2001-2003)

Paul started his career in the FMCG industry, working for prestigious organizations like Procter and Gamble Heath and Beauty Care UK, S.C. Johnson Wax UK and Kellogg Marketing and Sales Company, UK.

Paul holds a Bachelor Degree in Politics from University of Nottingham, UK.
