AirAsia X celebrates inaugural direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo

SAPPORO, 2 OCTOBER 2015 – AirAsia X celebrated its inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur – Sapporo which landed on time this morning at 0810hrs at the New Chitose International Airport with an encouraging 90% flight load, marking the long-haul low-cost airline’s 3rd destination into Japan, after Tokyo-Haneda and Osaka-Kansai from Kuala Lumpur.

The successful inaugural flight was followed by a press conference which was attended by Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, Chairman of AirAsia X Berhad; Dato’ Fam Lee Ee, Board of Director for AirAsia X Berhad and Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X Berhad; along with guest of honor His Excellency, Dato’ Ahmad Izlan Idris, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan; Mr Kazuto Suzuki, Airport Administrator of New Chitose Airport and Mr Akira Kimoto, Senior Director Bureau of Air Transportation Policy Department of Policy Planning and Coordination Hokkaido Government. The guests received a warm Japanese welcome with a colourful and lively Yosakoi dance performance. A special promotional fare was revealed at the press conference.
