LOT opens the most comfortable transfer hub in New Europe

Warsaw, 6 November 2015 – More than twice as many check-in desks, new bag drop desks, extended zone for passengers of the LOT Business and Premium Economy Class, one of the quickest fast tracks in Europe or solutions intended for families with children. These are only some new, comfortable solutions for LOT customers. In this way, the carrier is building the most convenient transit airport in this part of the world.

LOT passengers will feel comfortable as soon as they enter the terminal at the Warsaw Chopin Airport. Thanks to new, clear signs, they will easily find their check-in desk. From now on, there are over 20 desks for economy class passengers which guarantee a quick check-in without queues. In the LOT Economy Class check-in zone, there are also desks intended for families, a waiting area for children and desks for elder passengers or those requiring special care. For LOT Business and Premium Economy Class passengers, the carrier has opened a special, 150-metre long zone with 10 check-in desks and relax zone. Passengers can also use a renovated fast track. Only 76 metres, which is fewer than 100 steps, from the security control area, there is the LOT Business Lounge Polonez with an entirely new standard of food, dedicated chef and newly arranged interior. At every stage of moving around the airport, LOT passengers are taken care of by professional crew members ready to help you with any matter related to your travel.

“Our passengers deserve to feel at home at LOT transit airport, i.e. highly comfortable and safe. For many people, a visit to an airport means a stressful situation, where you always have to be concerned about something. With us, it is not true any longer. A new check-in zone, fast track, renovated LOT Business Lounge Polonez and a wide range of additional services guarantee a pleasant travel from the very beginning”, says Marcin Celejewski, acting CEO of LOT.

Passengers transfering to other LOT flights in Warsaw are guaranteed the minimum connecting time of 30 minutes only.

“A number of airports and airlines promise you short minimum connecting time, but only few are able to keep it. We keep our promises and offer you the shortest time spent at the airport during your travel to North America or Asia, to European cities, or during your flights on domestic routes in Poland. LOT is the only carrier which makes it possible to travel between Wrocław and Gdańsk within 2h20min. or between Szczecin and Cracow within 2h40min.”, adds M. Celejewski.

When the connecting time is short, transfer passengers receive special treatment from LOT’s ground personnel. In case of any disturbances in the timetable, the cabin crew informs transfer passengers where to go after they land in Warsaw. And when the connecting time is extremely short, there is a dedicated escort waiting for passengers at the exit of the plane, which accompanies them to the next plane. As a result of such a customer-oriented approach and thanks to other facilitations and improvements, there are more and more passengers using the Warsaw airport each year; they come not only from Poland, but mostly from other countries of New Europe.

“We have opened to those who are fed up with large and crowded behemoths and prefer a peaceful and efficient travel instead. New check-in zones, services or products are not all things we put at their disposal. First and foremost, we offer connections between 60 most important cities in the world, operated by LOT as part of its global and well-thought-out network”, highlights the CEO of LOT.

The development of the Warsaw hub as an effective transit airport is one of key elements of LOT’s growth strategy for the upcoming 5 years. LOT was developing transit traffic through Warsaw when the Restructuring Plan was in force. By August 2013, the share of transfer passengers was at the level of 38%, while in the same period of 2014 it was 42%, and in 2015 – 45%. The carrier is planning to increase the share of transfer passengers in Warsaw to 50% in 2016, and 55% in 2020. LOT wishes that the Chopin Airport quickly becomes a leading hub in New Europe.

“There are over 175 million people in the region and the economic growth rate is 4.5 times higher than in Western Europe. And, at the same time, the percentage of people travelling by plane is significantly lower than in the West. Those passengers either do not have their airlines or their offer is not sufficient. LOT wants to be their first-choice airline thanks to the best offer of flights with a change in Warsaw available on the market”, says Marcin Celejewski.
