LOT flies to Tokyo

Tokyo, 14 January 2016 – The first plane from Warsaw just landed in Japan’s capital. LOT’s Dreamliner was welcomed by celebration for passengers at the airport. The just launched Warsaw-Narita service is the first-ever and sole link between Poland and Japan and it provides a greater convenience for both Japanese and European passengers.

For passengers from Poland and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Warsaw – Narita 10-hour flight guarantees the most convenient and most efficient travel on this route. LOT will operate flights from Warsaw to Tokyo three times a week, on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and from Tokyo to Warsaw on Thursday, Saturday and Monday in accordance to the following schedule:

WAWNRT LO079 15:00 – 9:20+1 (local times)
NRTWAW LO080 11:05 – 14:40 (local times)

From the end of March till the end of October (summer schedule):

WAWNRT LO079 15:20 – 08:45+1 (local times)
NRTWAW LO080 10:15 – 14:25 (local times)

Both outbound and inbound passengers can now benefit from this schedule due to short and convenient connections from dozens of destinations in Europe such as Budapest, Vilnius, Riga, Prague, Budapest, Geneva, Copenhagen, Frankfurt or Paris.

“LOT’s hub in Warsaw is now the best alternative for other crowded and giant European hubs. With nearly 60 destinations in Poland and Europe and minimum connecting time as short as 40 minutes, LOT provides the most convenient offer on the way between Europe and Japan. For example, a journey with LOT from Prague or Budapest takes only 12 hours and 35 minutes – it is the fastest way of getting to Tokyo on the market! We simply try harder!” – says Marcin Celejewski, Acting CEO of LOT Polish Airlines.

LOT decided to open Tokyo Narita as a first long haul destination in past four years. Deep relation between Japan and Poland and the potential growth of mutual trade exchange, made Japan an obvious choice. About 300 Japanese companies invest in Poland.

Operated by LOT Polish Airlines, the flight from Warsaw to Tokyo is performed by means of the most advanced plane in the world, Boeing 787 Dreamliner in the configuration of three travel classes – LOT Economy, LOT Premium and LOT Business Class.

Passengers of LOT Business Class travel in the intimate cabin of 18 seats only. All of them are easily convertible to the full flat bed. The experience comes with the top restaurant quality cuisine with wide choice of beverages and personal service. LOT Premium means a lot of personal space and modern, wide and comfortable seat with individual arm rests and footrests and upgraded menu served on porcelain. In LOT Economy Class passengers can enjoy travelling on smart and cozy seats equipped with footrests and individual screens with sockets and USB ports. The service includes fresh, tasty and seasonal meals and snacks.

The first Japanese experience awaits for passengers travelling from Warsaw to Tokyo as early as aboard LOT’s Dreamliner. Passengers of all three travel classes will have a choice between an European menu and the special Japanese menu offered exclusively on this route. In the Business class, meals are served in special pottery for Japanese dishes made by Bolesławiec, a company which is popular with the Japanese. LOT Business Class passengers also have an opportunity to taste Umeshu, the best Japanese wine, and Souhana Sake, served in such prestigious places as the Tokyo Imperial Palace. Besides carefully selected Japanese alcohols, LOT Business Class passengers can find a special menu including, among others, miso soup, Japanese bento box dishes or Japanese snacks. As a special treat, our cabin crew serves Polish flavoured liqueur and the famous polish delicacy plums in chocolate, between meals. Japanese meals are also served in LOT Economy and LOT Premium Class. For these passengers LOT prepared original Japanese snacks served between meals and the delicious Japanese sencha green tea.

But that is not all – a great emphasis was put not only on the menu. There will always be a Japanese-speaking crew member on board, wearing a badge saying “I speak Japanese”. Passengers will find a wide range of the latest Japanese dailies on board, and the entertainment system will include Japanese films, series and music. The entire in-flight entertainment system will also be available in Japanese.

LOT Polish Airlines are becoming a modern international airline, a leader in the Central and Eastern Europe, with convenient transfer hub in Warsaw. Thanks to its schedule LOT offers the most convenient and the most efficient travel between Europe and Japan both to business passengers and tourists.

Asia is the natural direction for LOT long-haul network. It is confirmed by a success of carriers’ direct flights to Beijing operated since 2012. This shows, among other things, that LOT is no longer an ethnic carrier and that it has become an airline of first choice also for Asian customers, including business people who appreciate the product’s quality and standard of service on board LOT’s Dreamliners, which is under the responsibility of specially trained and carefully selected, dedicated Elite Fleet staff.

Tickets for flights between Warsaw and Tokyo and other destinations served by LOT are on sale in all channels, among others from agents and on lot.com website, also in its mobile version.
