Icelandair Group: Traffic Data June 2016

The Company carried 440 thousand passengers on international flights in June. The number of passengers was up by 20% as compared to June last year. The capacity increase totalled 22% between years. The passenger load factor was 83.6% compared to 84.2% at the same time last year.

The number of passengers on domestic and Greenland flights was 29 thousand in June, increasing by 3% between years. The capacity was increased by 12% compared to June 2015. The load factor was 68.3% compared to 74.4% last year. The decrease in load factor is due to maintenance work on the Bombardier Q200 aircraft that the company operates. That led to more flights on the company’s Bombardier Q400 aircraft which has more capacity. In addition the demand for flights to Greenland was lower than in June last year.

Sold block hours in charter flights decreased by 12% between years. Cargo transport increased by 6% year-on-year. The number of sold room nights at our Hotels was up by 1% compared to previous year. The room utilisation was 84.5%, compared to 80.7% in June last year.
