Warsaw, 2 November 2016 – Even winter does not hinder LOT Polish Airlines from maintaining its development pace. Compared to the previous winter season, LOT is going to expand its seating capacity by 20%, increasing the frequency of flights on more than half of its destinations. In a new timetable, the frequency of selected domestic, European and transatlantic flights, including to Canada and USA, will be increased. There will be more flights from Warsaw to destinations such as Cluj-Napoca, Lviv, Belgrade and Budapest compared to those available last summer. The direction of changes in the winter timetable shows that LOT ensures the most comprehensive and constant services all the year round.

The intensive season of summer trips is just over, however LOT does not slow down. Starting from 31 October, the Polish carrier is going to offer even more frequent flights to over 30 of their destinations all over the world compared to winter 2015. This winter, the passengers will be able to fly more frequently to Tel-Aviv, Kiev, Hamburg, Prague, Geneva, Munich, Amsterdam, Zagreb, Yerevan, Barcelona, St. Petersburg and Bucharest. Also the number of domestic flights, including from Warsaw to Szczecin, Wrocław and Kraków is going to be increased. Moreover, direct flights from Gdańsk to Kraków will be available twice as often as now. LOT’s passengers will be able to fly more frequently to Belgrade, Cluj-Napoca, Budapest, Dusseldorf and Lviv than in summer. The summer timetable of 6 flights from Warsaw to Kosice will not change, either.

In winter, passengers from many cities in Poland and Europe will be able to take advantage of LOT’s extended number of flights to USA. For the first time in history, the flights will be operated on a daily basis – not only around Christmas and New Year. Also the frequency of flights to Toronto will be increased, up to 6 flights weekly on average. At the same time, LOT will continue to offer its best service of short transfers at the Warsaw Chopin Airport hub.

“LOT wants to be all-year round carrier. Our passengers must be sure that our flights are available regardless of the season of the year. We aim for our network of connections to be as permanent as possible, and our winter timetable perfectly reflects that. This is what makes us stand out compared to low cost airlines. We are happy that we will be present at more than 30 airports, including destinations which we have launched just this year. We are also extremely happy with the record-breaking scale of long-haul flights, including a higher number of flights to North America and a regular number of flights on our two Asian routes to Tokyo and Seoul,” says Adrian Kubicki, LOT’s Corporate Communications Director and Spokesperson.

The winter network of connections shows that all flights launched by LOT in 2016 have been developing as planned. In total, the Polish carrier has launched as many as 25 new routes since the early 2016.

“For the winter season, we have suspended only those flights that were planned as seasonal ones, i.e. Split, Zadar, Beirut, Athens and Palanga. However, we are still able to offer the majority of them together with our partnership airlines. As regards many other new connections, for example to Kishinev or Cluj-Napoca, the number of flights has been even radically increased, which shows that they hit the bull’s eye,” adds Adrian Kubicki.

To supplement the regular network of connections in the coming winter season, LOT is going to continue offering charter long-haul flights for Rainbow Tours tourist agency. Such flights will be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners that will fly directly from Warsaw to Bali, Bangkok, Saigon, Varadero, Cayo Coco and Cancun. Charter flights to Mauritius and Madagascar are LOT’s novelty.

The increased frequency of flights in the winter season is a part of LOT’s profitable growth strategy that has been implemented by the Polish carrier since the early 2016. In total, LOT has launched as many as 25 new routes. In October, the carrier launched another long-haul route between Warsaw and Seoul. In 2017, LOT plans to further expand the number of connections. Newer and bigger aircrafts will be added to its fleet to service European connections, namely, Boeing 737-800s and then Boeing 737-MAX8s. LOT will also launch more new connections, including to two North American destinations: Newark and Los Angeles.
