Sepang, 29 December 2016: Malaysian Aviation Group (MAG) has appointed Dato’ Captain Badrul Hisham bin Yusoff as Chief Risk Officer with effect from 01 December 2016.

Dato’ Captain Badrul began his career with Malaysia Airlines in 1980 after graduating from the Philippine Aviation School in Pasay City, Manila. During his tenure as a line pilot, Dato’ Captain Badrul has operated various aircraft types ranging from the Fokker 27 to the latest Airbus 380.

Dato’ Captain Badrul has also held various management positions within the organization such as Chief Pilot (training and standards) from 2011 to 2012, Vice President, Corporate Safety from 2013 to 2014 and most recently Senior Vice President / Head of Corporate Safety from 2014 to 2015. As the Head of Corporate Safety, Dato’ Captain Badrul played a key role in introducing and driving Safety Risk Management within the organization. He also designed and implemented the MAS Safety Risk Register.

In his new role as Chief Risk Officer, Dato’ Captain Badrul will continue to strategize and oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of a comprehensive and effective Risk Management framework within the organization.

MAG CEO, Peter Bellew said, “Dato’ Captain Badrul has been entrusted to lead an integrated, organization-wide risk management programme that is able to face new and emerging risks which can be a threat to the organization’s corporate strategy. He and his team will be responsible to ensure quick and comprehensive identification of potential risks and turning them into opportunities for innovation, cost reduction, improved compliance and competitive advantage.”

“In all of this, his main focus will be to champion and drive Risk Management into becoming not only a management tool but also an integral part of MAG’s culture,” he added.
