The Air Law Firm marks successful first year with two senior hires

EBACE 2017, Geneva—The Air Law Firm LLP is marking a successful first year with the addition of two new senior hires, bringing complementary expertise from across the airline, aircraft OEM, asset management and aviation insurance sectors to the expanding boutique business. The firm’s private and corporate jet team alone transacted over USD1.6bn in deal value in 2016-2017.

The Mayfair, London-based company has appointed Rob Mellor as Senior Associate and Pam Chambers as Consultant at the dedicated aviation industry law firm.

Pam has considerable investigative experience in all manner of personal injury claims gained during her 22 year service with American Airlines. As a NEBOSH-qualified Safety Specialist and member of American’s emergency response team, Pam represented the airline in high value claims both in the UK and the US.

With in-depth knowledge of the day-to-day flight operations at London Heathrow Airport, Pam also has extensive experience in investigating customer complaints, aircraft damage incidents and EU261 claims.

As a former British police officer, she is particularly astute in investigating and detecting fraud. She is a gifted presenter and trainer with expertise in advising companies and individuals on ‘business traveller safety and security’.

Rob Mellor joins from Knights Professional Services Ltd where, as a Senior Associate within the corporate commercial team, he was primarily engaged in Rolls-Royce’s extensive aero-engine contract administration work, which included trademark, licensing and partnership agreements as well as Invitations to Tender.

Rob has nearly 20 years of commercial experience gained across the aviation industry, having worked as an in-house solicitor for Charles Taylor Adjusting and McLarens Aviation (formerly Airclaims). He has had a lifelong passion for the aviation industry, his father having been an aircraft engineer, and started his career training in the in-house legal department of Monarch Airlines.

Partner Aoife O’Sullivan said, “These two new appointments fit our mission statement to be an industry-driven firm focusing solely on aviation. The move caps a terrific first year for us, which saw us nominated by our peers and clients for inclusion as leaders in aviation in Legal 500 (unprecedented for a year old business); Spears Travel, Euromoney and Best Lawyers, together with achieving broad recognition among our expanding client base.

Our clients have been extremely loyal in their support of the venture and the past year was one of our busiest and most successful ever. We will continue to hire dedicated lawyers who are passionate about aviation but retain our boutique and flexible approach. Our next objective is to establish an office in Ireland and, thereafter, offer up aviation experts in every major jurisdiction.”
