AEGEAN Airlines has appointed Michalis Kouveliotis as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 12, 2026, succeeding Dimitris Gerogiannis, who has led the Greek carrier for the past 20 years.
Kouveliotis previously served as AEGEAN’s Chief Financial Officer, a position he held since before the airline’s listing on the Athens Stock Exchange. He became Deputy CEO in early 2025, assuming responsibility for coordinating the company’s business divisions as part of a planned leadership transition.
Gerogiannis, a founding executive of AEGEAN, will remain with the company in an advisory capacity, overseeing the development of its Technical Base and Training Center.
The leadership change marks a transition from AEGEAN’s founding management team to a new generation of executives. Gerogiannis played a central role in the airline’s development alongside founder Theodoros Vassilakis.
Chairman Eftichios Vassilakis said the transition is intended to maintain continuity while strengthening the airline’s management structure, network development and investment in technical capabilities.
The appointment follows a series of senior management changes at AEGEAN, including the recent promotions of Stella Dimaraki to CFO and Ilias Mandroukas to Chief Commercial Officer, both effective October 1, 2026.
