Air Cairo Orders 15 A320neos as It Adds Owned Aircraft to Fleet Strategy

Air Cairo has placed a firm order for 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft, marking the Egyptian carrier’s first direct aircraft acquisition from Airbus and adding an ownership component to a fleet built largely through leasing.

The order was signed at the El Alamein International Airshow and forms part of an expansion plan that calls for Air Cairo’s fleet to exceed 130 aircraft by 2034. The airline currently operates more than 45 aircraft, up from seven five years ago.

The new A320neos will support growth across Air Cairo’s domestic, regional and international networks while allowing the carrier to balance directly owned aircraft with leased capacity. The airline expects the mixed ownership structure to provide greater flexibility as its fleet and network expand.

Air Cairo has separately selected CFM International LEAP-1A engines for the 15 aircraft, along with spare engines and options covering another 15 A320neos.

The carrier already operates 20 LEAP-1A-powered A320neos and 12 A320ceos equipped with CFM56 engines. The latest aircraft and engine commitments establish a path for further expansion of its new-generation Airbus narrowbody fleet as Air Cairo targets substantial growth through 2034.
