Atlantic Airways has placed a firm order for two Airbus A320neo aircraft as the Faroe Islands’ national carrier moves toward operating an all-A320neo fleet.
The airline currently operates four Airbus A320 Family aircraft, comprising two A320ceos and two A320neos. The additional aircraft will support the replacement of its older-generation narrowbody jets and simplify fleet operations.
The investment is intended to improve operating efficiency, reduce maintenance complexity and provide greater fleet commonality across the airline’s network.
Atlantic Airways said the order represents an important step in its fleet renewal strategy, with the long-term objective of transitioning entirely to the A320neo.
The A320neo offers fuel consumption and carbon emissions reductions of at least 20% compared with previous-generation single-aisle aircraft, supporting the airline’s efforts to lower operating costs and environmental impact.
The airline did not disclose the financial terms of the order, engine selection or expected delivery dates.
