Avolon has placed firm orders for 250 new aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, significantly expanding its delivery pipeline as the Irish aircraft lessor responds to demand for fleet renewal and growth.
The agreements include 140 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and 110 Airbus aircraft, comprising 75 A320neo Family jets and 35 A330neo widebodies. The Airbus agreement also includes options for an additional 100 aircraft.
The transactions increase Avolon’s total firm aircraft commitments to 749 units and expand its owned, managed and committed fleet to 1,342 aircraft on a pro forma basis.
Both orders remain subject to shareholder approval at Bohai Leasing, which owns 70% of Avolon. Approval is expected before the end of October 2026.
Separately, Avolon reported acquiring 10 aircraft and selling 29 during the third quarter of 2026, with another 112 aircraft contracted for sale at quarter-end. The company also placed 28 new-technology aircraft from its orderbook and executed 84 lease agreements, extensions and amendments.
At September 30, Avolon had placed 89% of its committed aircraft scheduled for delivery over the following 24 months, reflecting continued airline demand for new-generation narrowbody and widebody capacity.
During the quarter, Avolon also established a $1.5 billion commercial paper program and secured an $855 million unsecured term loan from a syndicate primarily comprising Asian banks.
