BermudAir to Become First Embraer E190F Operator in the Americas

BermudAir will add an Embraer E190F freighter under lease from Regional One, expanding into dedicated cargo operations and becoming the first operator of Embraer’s E-Freighter in the Americas.

The Bermuda-based airline will be the second E-Freighter operator worldwide. Regional One has placed five firm orders for the E190F passenger-to-freighter conversion and has taken delivery of two converted aircraft to date.

The freighter will add a new business line to BermudAir’s passenger operation, targeting express shipments, e-commerce and time-sensitive cargo between Bermuda, the Caribbean and North America.

BermudAir currently operates two E175s and two E190 passenger aircraft and serves 10 destinations across the Caribbean, United States and Canada. Adding the E190F will allow the airline to build cargo operations around its existing Embraer fleet and regional network.

The E190F provides more than 100 cubic meters of cargo volume across its main and lower decks and can carry payloads of up to 13.5 tonnes. Embraer developed the conversion program to target the market between large cargo turboprops and conventional narrowbody freighters.

The BermudAir placement gives Regional One a second operator for its E190F portfolio while establishing the type in the North American and Caribbean cargo market.
