GMF AeroAsia, the aircraft maintenance subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia Group, has signed a 20-year concession agreement with Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to develop and operate a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Muscat International Airport.
The agreement, signed on October 5, 2026, establishes GMF’s planned operational presence in Oman as the Indonesian MRO provider expands its international maintenance network.
Under the concession, Oman’s CAA will retain ownership of the hangar and act as the concession provider and aviation regulator. GMF will be responsible for developing and operating the maintenance hangar and supporting infrastructure, with construction and capability development proceeding in phases according to market demand and an agreed business plan.
The Muscat facility is intended to position GMF closer to airline customers in the Middle East while providing access to aircraft maintenance markets in Africa and Europe. The operation will complement the company’s existing maintenance activities in Indonesia.
GMF also signed a separate cooperation document with Mach Aerospace International covering the development of aviation capabilities and workforce resources to support its planned operations in Oman.
GMF CEO Andi Fahrurrozi signed the concession agreement with CAA President Naif Ali Hamed Al-Abri during the Civil Aviation Investment Forum in Muscat.
The company will now proceed with operational preparations alongside local partners, including facility development, technical capabilities and personnel recruitment and training. The investment value, initial maintenance capacity and expected opening date were not disclosed.
