Harbour Air to Acquire Pacific Coastal Airlines, Creating 59-Aircraft Regional Group

Harbour Air has agreed to acquire Pacific Coastal Airlines, combining two British Columbia carriers into a regional aviation group with 59 aircraft and service to 25 communities.

The transaction will bring Harbour Air’s seaplane operation together with Pacific Coastal’s conventional regional network while retaining both airlines as separate brands. The companies will continue operating independently until the acquisition receives regulatory approval and closes.

The combined group will operate up to 300 flights per day and employ more than 900 people. Existing routes are expected to remain in place, with the new owner planning additional connectivity and airline partnerships as the businesses are integrated.

Vancouver will serve as a principal hub for the group, including connections through Vancouver International Airport to domestic and international airline networks. Harbour Air also plans to introduce a common loyalty offering across the two brands.

The complementary fleets will give the group both floatplane and wheeled-aircraft capabilities, providing greater flexibility during weather disruptions while expanding year-round access to smaller communities across British Columbia.

Harbour Air said the larger platform will support future investment in aircraft, maintenance capacity, infrastructure and operating systems while creating opportunities to expand regional routes and partnerships.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, and the companies have not announced an expected closing date.
