KAI and Embraer Sign MOU to Expand Civil Aviation and Aerospace Cooperation

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and Embraer have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand cooperation in commercial aircraft and aerospace, strengthening the strategic partnership between the South Korean and Brazilian manufacturers.

The agreement was signed during the Korea-Brazil Business Roundtable held in São Paulo alongside South Korean President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit to Brazil. According to South Korean officials, the MOU builds on the companies’ announcement in February to jointly explore the development of a next-generation commercial aircraft and establishes a framework for broader collaboration and regular strategic dialogue.

KAI said the partnership aims to expand beyond its existing supplier relationship with Embraer. The company currently manufactures wing structures for Embraer commercial aircraft and structural components for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and is seeking to develop a longer-term partnership focused on technology sharing and joint development.

The KAI-Embraer agreement was one of seven memoranda of understanding signed between South Korean and Brazilian companies during the business forum, reflecting broader efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation in advanced industries, including aerospace, defense, critical minerals and biotechnology.
