Luis Gallego Elected Chairman of oneworld Governing Board

The oneworld alliance has elected International Airlines Group (IAG) Chief Executive Luis Gallego as Chairman of its Governing Board, with the appointment taking effect on 1 September 2026.

Gallego will succeed American Airlines Chief Executive Robert Isom, whose three-year term as chairman concludes this year. The leadership transition was approved by the chief executives of the alliance’s member airlines.

As chairman, Gallego will oversee the alliance’s strategic direction as oneworld continues to expand its global network and develop initiatives in areas including customer loyalty, innovation and sustainability. He will work alongside oneworld Chief Executive Ole Orver and the alliance’s governing board to support continued collaboration among member carriers.

Isom has chaired the Governing Board since 2023, overseeing the addition of new members and the continued development of the alliance’s partnerships during his tenure.
