Philippine Airlines Selects GE Aerospace GEnx Engines for Boeing 787-10 Fleet

Philippine Airlines has selected GE Aerospace GEnx-1B engines to power its 15 newly ordered Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, with purchase rights covering an additional five aircraft.

The engine selection follows the airline’s commitment to acquire up to 20 Boeing 787-10s announced at the Farnborough International Airshow and extends a relationship between Philippine Airlines and GE Aerospace that spans more than five decades. The carrier currently operates GE90-powered Boeing 777-300ERs and CFM56-powered Airbus A320 aircraft.

The GEnx-1B is one of the world’s most widely used engines for the Boeing 787, offering high fuel efficiency, reliability and long on-wing performance. GE Aerospace said the engine has accumulated more than 50 million flight hours since entering service and maintains a dispatch reliability rate of 99.98%.

The new engines will support Philippine Airlines’ long-haul fleet modernization and international network expansion while improving operational efficiency and passenger service.
