Red Sea Airlines to Add Two 737 MAX 8s as It Targets 14-Aircraft Fleet

Red Sea Airlines has agreed to lease two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital as the Egyptian carrier moves forward with plans to expand its fleet to 14 aircraft by 2028.

The two MAX 8s are scheduled for delivery in July and August 2027. The agreement represents another step in the airline’s fleet expansion following a recent agreement with Boeing.

Red Sea Airlines is also due to receive a Boeing 737-800 from Aergo Capital by the end of 2026 and is negotiating with international lessors for another seven aircraft.

The additional capacity will support expansion from Egyptian airports including Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and Sphinx International Airport, providing greater access to the country’s Red Sea leisure markets and Cairo-area tourism destinations.

Red Sea Airlines said the fleet growth will be accompanied by investment in training, maintenance, technology and operational capabilities as it works toward its 14-aircraft target in 2028.
