Royal Jordanian Adds 17th A320neo Family Aircraft as Fleet Reaches 36

Royal Jordanian has taken delivery of its 17th Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, continuing a fleet renewal program that has added 10 aircraft since the beginning of 2026.

The latest delivery increases the Jordanian flag carrier’s total fleet to 36 aircraft. Another A320neo Family aircraft is scheduled to arrive in December, bringing the fleet of the type to 18 by year-end, followed by one additional aircraft in each of 2027 and 2028 for a total of 20.

Royal Jordanian also plans to add an Airbus A321 in 2027. Three of its A320neos have been designated for a new Premium Economy product positioned between Economy and Crown Class.

The narrowbody expansion is being accompanied by additional long-haul capacity. Royal Jordanian has received two Boeing 787-9s during 2026 and expects a third in 2027, with plans to eventually operate nine of the type. Its seven existing 787-8s are undergoing cabin, connectivity and livery upgrades.

Regional capacity is provided by eight Embraer E2 aircraft, giving the airline a three-tier fleet strategy covering regional, short- and medium-haul, and long-haul markets.

The additional aircraft are supporting a broader network expansion that includes Misrata, Munich, Hamburg, Sharjah, Alexandria, Dallas, Vienna and Tashkent. Royal Jordanian is targeting a network of approximately 60 destinations over the coming years.

The airline said its fleet investment is being balanced against higher lease liabilities and financing costs, with management evaluating new aircraft based on their overall economics, including fuel consumption, maintenance expenses and revenue contribution. Royal Jordanian reported improved revenue, passenger traffic and positive financial results during the first half of 2026.
