Russia Funds Production of 18 MC-21 Aircraft, Allocates RUB2.6 Billion for IL-114-300 Program

The Russian government has secured funding for the production of 18 MC-21 aircraft at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant as part of its effort to expand domestic commercial aircraft manufacturing. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said additional measures, including a preferential lending program, will be introduced to ensure uninterrupted production and support planned output through 2035.

Separately, the government will allocate RUB2.6 billion (US$32.1 million) this year to complete the first three serial-production IL-114-300 turboprop aircraft. The funding is intended to support industrial activity while accelerating the renewal of Russian airlines’ fleets with domestically produced aircraft.

The IL-114-300, developed by United Aircraft Corporation’s Ilyushin division under Rostec, received its type certificate in June. The 66-seat regional turboprop has a range of 1,450 kilometers and is designed for regional operations, with the first three aircraft scheduled for delivery to Arkhangelsk Aviation Enterprise.

Russian leasing company GTLK has previously estimated domestic demand for nearly 40 IL-114-300 aircraft as the country continues efforts to replace imported commercial aircraft with locally manufactured models.
