SMBC Aviation Capital Orders 100 Airbus A320neo Family Aircraft

SMBC Aviation Capital has placed a firm order for 100 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, comprising 65 A321neos and 35 A320neos, with the agreement finalized at the Farnborough International Airshow.

The order will provide the Dublin-based lessor with a steady pipeline of next-generation narrowbody aircraft through the mid-2030s, supporting airline customers’ fleet renewal and expansion plans. SMBC Aviation Capital said the investment reflects its confidence in long-term demand for the A320neo family and its commitment to providing airlines with modern, fuel-efficient aircraft.

SMBC Aviation Capital is already one of Airbus’ largest customers and, together with parent company Sumitomo Corporation, has accumulated more than 900 direct Airbus aircraft commitments across all programs.

The A320neo family has received more than 20,200 orders worldwide and delivers at least a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared with previous-generation single-aisle aircraft. The A321neo, the largest member of the family, offers additional range and capacity for airlines operating high-demand routes.
