Texel Air has expanded its New Zealand freighter fleet to three aircraft following a NZ$95 million investment in two Boeing 737-800BCFs, including the 200th aircraft completed under Boeing’s 737-800 passenger-to-freighter conversion program.
The latest aircraft, registered ZK-TXH and named Florence, will initially operate charter services, providing additional capacity for domestic freight movements and international cargo operations. Its arrival follows the delivery of another 737-800BCF, named Karen, in August 2026.
The two additions increase Texel’s Australasian fleet to seven Boeing 737-800BCFs, while its worldwide fleet now comprises 12 Boeing 737 aircraft, including five based in Bahrain.
Texel expects the additional capacity to support freight movements between New Zealand’s principal cargo hubs and regional destinations, as well as international trade. The expansion has also increased its Australasian workforce to more than 165 employees.
The delivery of Florence marks Boeing’s 200th 737-800BCF conversion. The program transforms passenger aircraft into dedicated freighters through structural modifications, including reinforced floors, a main-deck cargo door and cargo handling systems.
Texel said the investment reflects growing demand for dedicated airfreight capacity in New Zealand, particularly for time-sensitive shipments and specialized charter operations.
