Turkish Airlines has joined SAFFA Fund I, LP, an investment fund managed by Burnham Sterling Asset Management that aims to accelerate the production and adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Launched in 2023, the fund invests in commercially mature SAF projects across multiple production technologies and geographic regions to expand global supply. Airbus is the fund’s anchor investor, while participants also include airlines, aviation companies and financial institutions.
The investment supports Turkish Airlines’ long-term sustainability strategy by strengthening access to sustainable aviation fuel while providing exposure to emerging SAF technologies, feedstock development and production projects. The carrier said the move also enhances supply chain security as it works toward its carbon reduction objectives.
The SAFFA Fund is designed to channel capital into scalable SAF projects to help increase production capacity and support the aviation industry’s transition toward lower-emission operations.
