Uganda Airlines Orders Boeing 737-8 and 787-9 Aircraft

Uganda Airlines has placed its first-ever order with Boeing, committing to four 737-8 aircraft and four 787-9 Dreamliners as part of a fleet modernization and expansion program.

Announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, the order will support the carrier’s strategy to strengthen regional and long-haul connectivity while positioning Entebbe as a key aviation hub in East Africa. The 737-8 will be deployed on routes across Africa as well as services to the Middle East and India, while the 787-9 will support long-haul flights to destinations in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Boeing said the new aircraft will enable Uganda Airlines to expand its network while reducing fuel consumption by 20% to 25% compared with the aircraft they replace. The agreement also establishes a long-term partnership covering technical support, training and operational development.

Uganda Airlines currently serves 17 destinations across 13 countries from its hub at Entebbe International Airport.
