US-Bangla Airlines Formally Announces Acquisition of 21 Boeing Aircraft

US-Bangla Airlines has formally announced plans to acquire 21 Boeing aircraft by 2027, marking the largest fleet expansion in the Bangladeshi carrier’s history.

The airline said the aircraft will be acquired through five leasing companies, with lease agreements already finalized. The announcement follows the carrier’s earlier disclosure this month of a BDT140 billion investment in the fleet expansion program.

According to Boeing, the new aircraft will support US-Bangla’s continued network growth across South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, while providing improved fuel efficiency, operational reliability and an enhanced passenger experience.

The announcement ceremony was attended by senior Bangladeshi government officials, representatives of the U.S. Embassy and executives from Boeing and the participating leasing companies. Officials said the investment supports Bangladesh’s broader ambition to develop into a regional aviation hub, aided by infrastructure projects including the opening of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

US-Bangla also said it plans to invest in workforce development by sponsoring the training of 200 pilots and 100 certified aircraft maintenance engineers as it prepares for the airline’s planned fleet expansion.
