8.3 percent more Brussels Airlines passengers in May 2014

Thursday 12 June, 2014 — Compared to May 2013, 8.3 percent more passengers flew on a Brussels Airlines flight this year. The seat load factor grew by 2.6 percentage points. It is the fifth month in a row that the airline records a significant passenger growth.

582,471 passengers were welcomed on board Brussels Airlines’ flights within Europe and to the States and Africa in the month of May. The European network attracted 30,829 additional passengers while 13,932 more passengers were registered on long distance flights.

It is the fifth consecutive month that Brussels Airlines’ passenger figures have grown. The growth also led to a better occupancy, leading to a 71.5 pct seat load factor (2.6 percentage points).

The freight activity also grew significantly (+18.2 percent).

In addition to its scheduled flight activity, Brussels Airlines operates many holiday flights for tour operators and incentive agencies. Passenger figures for this charter activity are not included in the monthly figures of this press release.
