Air Niugini actively engaging with European charter market

Expanding national carrier of Papua New Guinea, Air Niugini, is planning to make more capacity available for charter work and group bookings on its network of domestic and international scheduled services. Strategically situated between Asia, Australia and the Pacific Islands it’s fleet of 27 aircraft are based in the island nation’s capital of Port Moresby.

Air Niugini have the ability to offer price competitive charters on all its aircraft types which include: B737, Q400, Q300, Q200, ATR72 Freighter and Falcon Executive Jet.

Air Niugini CEO, Simon Foo said: “Air Niugini is moving towards partial privatisation, with 49% to go on sale in the first of a series of privatisations. Papua New Guineans are being offered the chance to own shares in state owned assets up for sale. Expanded services into Australia have increased to twice daily to Brisbane (with the exception of Saturdays) and we have launched a Cairns to Rabaul direct flight, plus we are in talks for flights into Indonesia and looking to expand into China. As well as growing our network of scheduled services, operating more charters is a significant part of our future plans.”

Managing Director of Air Niugini’s UK GSA, Paul Argyle said: “We are looking to significantly increase the revenue from this sector of the market and appreciate that the strongest demand – even for Pacific based aircraft – comes from European organisations. From a one-off charter to connect passengers or crew with cruise ships visiting the region to short term wet, damp or dry aircraft eases Air Niugini have the capability to respond quickly to every type of request.”

Air Niugini are exhibiting at World Travel Market November 3rd – 6th 2014. Please visit us on Stand AS 265 in the Asia/Pacific Hall.
