AirAsia Japan Announces Changes in Executive Leadership

Tokyo/Nagoya, 01 December 2015 – AirAsia Japan today announced their board of directors have appointed Takashi Ide as Representative Director and President, Osamu Hata as Chief Executive Officer and Masakazu Arimori as Chief Financial Officer.

On the new appointments, Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia said, “Hata-san’s business acumen and Arimori-san’s sound expertise in cost control and capital allocation under Ide-san’s guidance puts AirAsia Japan in the best position to deliver on its mission to revolutionize air travel in Japan and maintain the highest level of safety.”

“Takashi Ide needs no introduction in the aviation industry and we are excited to have someone of his caliber lead the team at AirAsia Japan, especially in building stronger relationships with the JCAB and other key regulatory stakeholders,” said Hiroshi Mikitani, Chairman and CEO of Rakuten and member of the Board of Directors for AirAsia Japan.

Ide, the former Chairman of the Board of Skymark Airlines brings with him extensive industry experience and a wealth of knowledge on the Japanese aviation market. Hata joined AirAsia Japan in 2013 and previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer. Arimori is another industry veteran, previously serving as President and COO of Skymark Airlines.
Yoshinori Odagiri, previous Representative Director and Chief Executive Officer will remain with the company in an advisory role.
