MRO Software Evaluation Brings Forth Alitalia Express’ commitment to AMOS Alitalia Express started its evaluation process for their new MRO software already more than one year before the final decision for AMOS of Swiss AviationSoftware was finally taken in April 2007. With AMOS, Alitalia Express has settled for the industry-leading maintenance management system that monitors the comprehensive maintenance, engineering and logistics requirements of modern airlines and MRO providers. Alitalia Express chose AMOS for its advanced technology and its rich MRO business functionalities to replace its legacy system.
The goal is to implement the fully-integrated AMOS solution “as is”, meaning that Alitalia Express will rely on the experience Swiss-AS has gained with about 50 successful implementations and adjust their business processes to what has proven to be “best practice”.
A Strict Project Management Pursuing A Clear Objective The Swiss-AS project methodology is distinguished by its personal and customer- driven approach. For complex tasks, such as optimizing the customer’s procedures, an accurate project management is needed. With Alitalia Servizi providing IT support, and therefore several parties being involved during the stage of implementation, a project agreement with strict rules was defined to guarantee the project’s success.
In a first project phase workshops were conducted that included, amongst others, a fit/gap-analysis. The outcome revealed in which areas AMOS required customizations in order to be integrated in Alitalia Express’ current application architecture.
The next project phase in Q4 of 2007 lies its focus on the development of interfaces to the Alitalia Flight Operations, technical records and corporate back-office systems (SAP), as well as data transfer and further process adjustments.
Granted that the implementation process will continue to run smoothly, the planned Go-live date for beginning of 2008 will certainly be met.
