ALTA Member Airlines Passenger Traffic Grows 10.2% in April

Miami, May 31, 2011 – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 11.5 million passengers in April, up 10.2% from the previous year.

In addition to passengers increasing 10.2%, traffic (RPK) grew 12.6% and capacity (ASK) increased 3.3%. The load factor jumped to 74.6%, 6.1 percentage points higher than in April 2010.

The number of passengers carried year-to-date (January to April) increased 5.4% versus the same period of the previous year, reaching 46.0 million passengers. During the aforementioned period traffic (RPK) rose 6.6%, capacity (ASK) increased 2.4%, and the passenger load factor reached 75.6%, 3.0 percentage points higher than the previous year.

Freight ton kilometers increased 3.6% in April and 6.4% year to date.
