Miami, June 13, 2013- The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 12.4 million passengers in April, up 3.5% from the previous year.
Traffic (RPK) grew 3.3% and capacity (ASK) increased 5.8%, bringing down the load factor to 74.4%, 1.8 percentage points lower than in April 2012.
The number of passengers carried year-to-date increased 5.3% versus the same period of the previous year, reaching 51.2 million passengers. During the aforementioned period, traffic (RPK) rose 6.4%, capacity (ASK) increased 5.5%, and the passenger load factor reached 75.9%, 0.6 percentage points higher than the previous year.
Freight ton kilometers increased 8.2% in April and 2.4% year-to-date.
