Miami, October 16, 2013 – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 13.7 million passengers in August, up 4.9% from the previous year.
Traffic (RPK) grew 7.8% and capacity (ASK) increased 6.6%, bringing up the load factor to 78.1%, 0.9 percentage points higher than in August 2012.
The number of passengers carried year-to-date increased 6.3% versus the same period of the previous year, reaching 105.3 million passengers. During the aforementioned period, traffic (RPK) rose 7.2%, capacity (ASK) increased 6.1%, and the passenger load factor reached 77.1%, 0.8 percentage points higher than the previous year.
Freight ton kilometers increased 4.1% in August and 2.6% year-to-date.
