ALTA Member Airlines Passenger Traffic Increases 7.8% in October

Miami, December 4, 2013- The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 13.9 million passengers in October, up 7.8% from the previous year.

Traffic (RPK) grew 8.7% and capacity (ASK) increased 4.6%, bringing up the load factor to 78.7%, 3.0 percentage points higher than in October 2012.

The number of passengers carried year-to-date increased 6.4% versus the same period of the previous year, reaching 132.4 million passengers. During the aforementioned period, traffic (RPK) rose 7.3%, capacity (ASK) increased 5.8%, and the passenger load factor reached 77.4%, 1.1 percentage points higher than the previous year.

Freight ton kilometers increased 3.6% in October and 4.1% year-to-date.
