Condor is restructuring its ownership following the early repayment of state aid received during its post-Thomas Cook and COVID-19 restructuring period, with Attestor set to acquire the remaining 49% of the German airline.
The stake is currently held by SG Luftfahrtgesellschaft on behalf of Germany’s federal government and the State of Hesse. Attestor is exercising an acquisition option established when it invested in Condor in 2021.
Completion of the transaction is scheduled for August 31, 2027. Following closing, the state-backed shareholding established as part of Condor’s financial stabilization will end.
The ownership change follows Condor’s early repayment of its state aid in spring 2026. Government support had helped stabilize the airline after the 2019 collapse of former parent Thomas Cook and the subsequent disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since Attestor’s investment, Condor has replaced its long-haul fleet and continued renewing its short- and medium-haul aircraft. The airline has also been developing a broader city network to provide additional feeder traffic into its Frankfurt hub.
