AWAS appoints Simon Glass as Chief Financial Officer

Dublin based aircraft lessor, AWAS, announced today that it has appointed Simon Glass to the position of Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Glass will be joining AWAS on the 1st February 2011 and will be based in its Dublin headquarters.

Simon Glass has over 25 years of international business experience in the banking and financial services industries. Prior to joining AWAS, Simon was most recently at the Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC where he held the position of Deputy Group Finance Director with responsibility for over 2,000 employees. Over the past 20 years, he has held a number of senior finance positions within the global banking industry.
Prior to joining RBS, Mr. Glass was Deputy Group Finance Director for Standard Chartered PLC. He joined Standard Chartered from the HSBC Group where he held a number of senior finance positions over a 19 year period. Simon spent his first eight years with HSBC in Asia and London in internal audit. In 1995, he moved to New York in the role of SVP, Risk Management before returning to London in 1997 in the role of Head of Treasury Financial Control and then Head of Market Development and Risk. In 2000, Mr. Glass held the position of CFO Corporate Investment Banking and Markets based in London and was later promoted to the position of CFO of HSBC’s main operating subsidiary in Asia Pacific with direct responsibility for 650 staff in the period 2003-2006.
Simon is a graduate of Southampton University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
