BAE SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES NEW 2011 JETSTREAM TRANSACTIONS AND FURTHER REMARKETING MANDATE

Hatfield, Hertfordshire….BAE Systems announced today a range of new Jetstream sales and remarketing transactions won since the start of the year. These transactions build upon the fully contracted Jetstream 32 and 41 lease portfolios.
In the Jetstream 41 portfolio, Easy Fly of Colombia has completed the purchase of the four Jetstream 41s that it leased from BAE Systems, leaving all of the remaining 29-seaters on the portfolio leased to customers in the UK, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
The strong Jetstream 41 portfolio position meant that BAE Systems was able to secure a mandate from Eastern Airways of the UK in September 2010 to remarket six of their fleet for sale or lease. Market conditions has meant that Eastern is able to release some Jetstream 41 capacity and the airline recognised BAE Systems’ expertise in securing attractive deals worldwide for its own Jetstream 41 portfolio.
This expertise has already resulted in two early 2011 transactions having been secured:
The sale of one aircraft to Easy Fly of Colombia, which brings its Jetstream 41 fleet to 11 aircraft. The airline has secured an important position in the Colombian domestic air travel market since it commenced operation in October 2007 and it now serves 16 destinations from three main operating bases;
The sub lease from Eastern Airways of one Jetstream 41 to Sky Express of Heraklion, Crete. Together with an additional Jetstream 41 that the airline has acquired from a third party, the Sky Express fleet of the aircraft has now reached five aircraft plus one Jetstream 32. Sky Express has carved out a niche for itself over the past three years by flying thinner routes linking Crete directly with smaller Greek islands such as Rhodes, Lesbos, Samos and Kos and avoiding transiting through Athens. It also operates some Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes from a number of islands direct to Athens.
In addition to the Eastern Airways remarketing mandate, BAE Systems has also secured a new mandate from Corporate Flight Management of Smryna, Tennessee under which it will find buyers for one Jetstream 41 and one Jetstream 32 on behalf of the client. The Jetstream 41 is offered in a 29-seat configuration and the Jetstream 32 in either a 12-seat corporate shuttle layout or as a 19-seat airliner.
