ch-aviation launches largest DHC-6 Twin Otter fleet and airline database

Chur, 15 February 2016 – With the launch of the DHC-6 Twin Otter fleet database ch-aviation now covers almost any commercial aircraft above 19 seats.

With over 925 built aircraft the DHC-6 Twin Otter is one of the most popular aircraft in the world. One of the great factors of success is its great versatility. It can land and takeoff from the most rugged runways in the world such as Lukla in the Himalayas. In Barra in Scotland it does not even require a runway as it lands on the beach. Equipped with floats it can also operate on water and is therefore extremely successful in remote areas like Canada and tropical islands such as the Maldives. This however leads to many small airlines that sometimes only operate one single Twin Otter and unfortunately also too many Twin Otters, that have been damaged or scrapped because of improper handling, making it extremely difficult to track the current status of each and every DHC-6 Twin Otter.

ch-aviation is therefore very pleased to announce that its new DHC-6 Twin Otter fleet and airline database is the most comprehensive in the world.

“After hundreds of hours of work we managed to provide the same quality of information on the global DHC-6 Twin Otter fleet and operators compared to what our customers expect from us on much bigger aircraft. We provide the usual information such as Registration, Serial Numbers, Age, Seats, Engines and much more. We have also added hundreds of smaller Twin Otter operators so that our customers can use our database and go to work.” Steven Butler, ch-aviation’s Vice President Data & Research said.

DHC-6 Twin Otter facts by ch-aviation (15 February 2016): 519 aircraft active, 95 inactive, 311 scrapped/written off. Total Built: 925. Five biggest operator: Trans Maldivian Airways (44), Fuerza Aerea del Peru (16), Kenn Borek Air (15), Hevilift (PNG) (13).
