Direct Maintenance commences A380 line maintenance for Emirates

01 Aug 2012 : Today marks a historic day for aviation in The Netherlands. Emirates has become the first airline to commence daily A380 flights into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, with line maintenance support being provided by Direct Maintenance.

A traditional water salute was provided this afternoon by airport fire tenders, while the gigantic A380 taxied in towards its parking gate.

Direct Maintenance is appointed by Emirates to provide A380 line maintenance support, including regular Transit Checks, In-Flight Entertainment system maintenance as well as cabin interior repairs.

According Roger Meels, Technical Director: “This is a day we all have been looking forward to for quite some time. During the past year we have prepared ourselves in terms of staff training as well as equipment, documentation, spares. As a result the regulatory authorities in both The Netherlands as well as the UAE awarded Direct Maintenance the approval to support and certify the A380. I really have to thank everybody involved in this project to allow us being ready in time. Our devoted and focused engineering staff is very well motivated to ensure the A380 operations will run safe and on time from technical point of view. It is a true privilege being the first company to support A380 line maintenance at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for a prestigeous airline like Emirates, one of our long standing customers”.
