Miami (September 4, 2013) – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association, ALTA, has appointed Eduardo Iglesias to the position of Executive Director of ALTA. Iglesias was unanimously selected by ALTA’s Executive Committee after an extensive global search led by executive recruitment firm Spencer Stuart.
Iglesias brings a wealth of senior industry experience over a long and successful career in aviation. Most recently, Iglesias was Legal Vice President of Avianca. Prior to that, he was TACA International Airlines General Counsel, where he was responsible for contract negotiations, consumer protection claims, the representation in various legal and regulatory affairs committees and symposiums, and corporate and governmental affairs. Together with the ALTA team, Iglesias will play a critical role in ensuring that the association´s leading initiatives will continue to successfully help the aviation industry in the region become safer and more efficient.
Iglesias holds Law Degrees from Spain and Puerto Rico, a Master’s Degree in Law from McGill’s Institute of Air and Space Law and also holds a B.A. in Political Science. He was born in Puerto Rico and has lived in Spain, USA, Canada, and El Salvador. He is married and has 2 children.
Beginning September 18th, Iglesias will replace Alex de Gunten, who productively and successfully led the organization for the past 10 years. Eduardo will be based in Miami and report to ALTA’s President, Roberto Kriete and the members of ALTA´s Executive Committee*.
