Jacksonville, FL, September 10, 2014 — Team JAS officially announced today the first installation of their PMA Nose Wheel Assembly (part number PDM3-1197) on a new production, COA Viking Air Limited (VAL) DHC-6 400 series aircraft. This development follows the signing earlier this year of a multi-year fleet support agreement by which JAS will supply its FAA-PMA nose wheel to VAL. Despite aggressive movement in the marketplace by competitors, the JAS wheel assembly is the best choice for installation based on attractive pricing and design similarity to the original nose wheel.

“We decided to keep the original design for our wheel because it has stood the test of time,” explained Team JAS’ President and CEO, Andy Sanfilippo. “In everything we do we put the customer first. Corrosion is a big issue for all operators, and corrosion protection is always our first goal. Our nose wheel assembly is cast using a superior grade of magnesium, reducing the chance of intergranular corrosion that could lead to cracking. We also chemically bond the wheel weight rather than bolting the weight. This removes the ability for galvanic corrosion to occur in a critical area due to dissimilar metals coming into contact.”

The entire assembly design was completed by Team JAS’ engineering division, PMA Design & Manufacturing, using Team JAS’ exclusive line of JAS Engineered SolutionsSM parts and components. In addition to receiving FAA PMA approval, the PDM3-1197 nose wheel is TSO authorized, meeting the testing and design requirements of TSO C26D.
